Prime Minister Modi Pays Tribute to BR Ambedkar, Highlights Legacy of Social Justice
Paying homage to Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar on his birth anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday credited Ambedkar’s vision as a guiding force behind the nation’s pursuit of social justice.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Modi said Ambedkar’s ideals continue to inspire India’s journey toward becoming a self-reliant and developed nation. “His principles and ideas will strengthen and accelerate the building of an ‘aatmanirbhar’ Bharat,” the Prime Minister stated.
Later in the day, Modi joined President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and Opposition leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, among others, at Parliament to pay floral tributes to the architect of the Indian Constitution.
Dr. Ambedkar is widely remembered for his relentless fight for the rights of the Scheduled Castes and his foundational role in drafting the Constitution of India.
Born in 1891 into a Dalit family, Ambedkar overcame systemic discrimination to become a distinguished scholar, earning degrees from prestigious institutions abroad. His experiences with social exclusion fueled his lifelong commitment to reform and equality.
Ambedkar went on to become independent India’s first Law Minister and left an enduring legacy before his death in 1956.
