My Home India confers it’s Karmayogi Award 2024 to Delhi’s Dr. Vishwamitra Batra
New Delhi, 27th November 2024:* The 11th Karmayogi Award, organized by the social service organization ‘My Home India’, was successfully held yesterday. On this occasion, Dr. Vishwamitra Batra was honored by Shri Krishna Gopal , Jt. GS of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Dr. Vishwamitra Batra, a graduate in medicine from Delhi, left his home in 1983 to serve the people of the tribal areas of India. He has been continuously working in this field for the past 41 years. Over the last four decades, Dr. Batra made Meghalaya’s Khasi Hills his home, where he not only treated the physical ailments of the indigenous people but also addressed social issues as well as in the primary education space.
In Northeast India, Dr. Batra is perhaps the first non-tribal person to be honoured with tribal recognition for his dedicated service.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Krishna Gopal Ji emphasized that the states of Northeast India had long been incited, and the vision required to understand the region was never adopted. Each state was treated as if it were a country in itself, which led Northeast India to burn in the flames of separatism for a long time. He further stated that the region needs not just to be connected but to be understood. NGOs working for the benefit of Tribals have understood this sentiment and have started many service projects. People from Northeast India were successfully integrated into other parts of the country with a sense of warmth and unity.
Founder of ‘My Home India’ and senior BJP leader, Sunil Deodhar Ji, said that the Swami Vivekananda Smriti Karmayogi Award is given to those individuals who have dedicated themselves to the welfare of the nation through their service in the Northeast region. The changes seen in Northeast India today are definitely the result of the struggles and dedication of these Karmayogis. There are hundreds of such Karmayogis in the Northeast, but Dr. Vishwamitra Batra’s recognition is symbolic. Through his healthcare efforts in these remote areas, he has instilled a sense of nationalism.
On receiving the award, Karmayogi Dr. Vishwamitra Batra stated that this honour belongs to the ideology of thousands of workers engaged in various projects to resolve the distortions and problems that arose due to foreign subjugation. This is a tribute to these Karmayogis.
The grand ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including former Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Bah Robin Kurbah President of Seng Khilang, and other distinguished guests.
