Shillong, May 24, 2025 — The Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Foundation, Meghalaya, organized an Inter-School Competition on Saturday at R. B. Anupchand Hindi Secondary School, Shillong, celebrating the life and legacy of the former President of India.
The event featured a variety of competitions, including a quiz, essay writing, art, model making, and craft — all centered around the inspiring life of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. Students from various schools across the region enthusiastically participated, showcasing their creativity, knowledge, and admiration for the Missile Man of India.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by several distinguished guests, including Padmashree awardee Silbi Passah, Afsal Hussain (former president of the Bangiyo Sahityo Parishad), Jay Kumar Mishra (Principal of R. B. Anupchand H.S. School), Abdul Khalique (Founder Secretary of the Foundation), and Dr. Mayank Jain from Kendriya Hindi Sangstha.
The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Smti Falguni Chakraborty, President of the Meghalaya chapter of the Foundation. A group song performance by local students added a cultural touch to the event’s opening.
The competitions aimed to encourage young minds to learn more about Dr. Kalam’s vision, scientific contributions, and values of simplicity and dedication. The winners will be announced in a subsequent ceremony, and prizes will be awarded to recognize their achievements.
