ADC polls : council poll campaign ends

Campaigning for the Khasi and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council election to be held on February 21 ended at 4 pm on Wednesday. During this period, election campaigning, public meetings and use of loudspeakers, distribution of pamphlets etc, display of flags/banners etc will be prohibited. The state government has declared a general holiday for the Khasi-Jaintia Hills area on the day of polling. It will apply to all the districts of Khasi-Jaintia Hills as defined by the Commissioner and Secretary, General Administration Department.

Industrial undertakings or any establishments governed by the NI Act, 1881, shops and employees working on shift basis, daily wage earners, casual workers including those working outside the constituency who are voters under the above constituencies will be entitled to benefit of paid leave as per Section 133(2)(b).

Besides this, the government has also announced that Central Government employees and employees working in Garo Hills who are voters under the constituencies of KHADC and JHADC will be granted special leave.
