Meghalaya Kickboxers Win 23 Medals at 5th India Open International Tournament 2026

Shillong: The Meghalaya State Kickboxing Association (MSKA) delivered an outstanding performance at the 5th India Open International Kickboxing Tournament 2026, clinching a total of 23 medals at the prestigious event held from February 4 to 8 at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi.

The championship, organised by WAKO India Kickboxing Federation, witnessed participation from top athletes across the country and abroad.

🏅 Overall Medal Tally

  • Gold – 7

  • Silver – 9

  • Bronze – 7

  • Total – 23 Medals

In the Women’s category, Meghalaya kickboxers secured 10 medals (4 Gold, 4 Silver, 2 Bronze).
In the Men’s section, athletes won 13 medals (3 Gold, 5 Silver, 5 Bronze).

Women:

  • Belldona Pakyntein (Senior, K1 Rules – 52 kg)

  • Daniella I W Mylliemngap (Senior, K1 Rules – 60 kg)

  • Medariphylla L Nongbri (Senior, Low Kick – 56 kg)

  • Joviality Lyngdoh Kynshi (Junior, K1 Rules – 40 kg)

Men:

  • Babit Kharsahnoh (Senior, K1 Rules – 51 kg)

  • Solomon H Buongpui (Senior, K1 Rules – 70 kg)

  • Ialamjingshai L Mawlong (Junior, Low Kick – 48 kg)

🥊 Title Retained by International Players

Five international kickboxers from MSKA retained their titles:

  • Babit Kharsahnoh

  • Daniella I W Mylliemngap

  • Medariphylla L Nongbri

  • Ibadarishisha Mukhim

  • Belldona Pakyntein

They collectively secured 4 Gold and 1 Silver medal, reaffirming Meghalaya’s growing dominance in international-standard kickboxing.

Following their arrival in Shillong from New Delhi, the athletes were warmly welcomed and felicitated at Hotel Assembly in recognition of their achievements.

📊 MSKA’s Overall Record Since 2017

Since August 2017, MSKA has amassed an impressive:

  • 99 Gold

  • 78 Silver

  • 103 Bronze

  • Total – 280 Medals

Out of these, 76 medals are at international standards. Additionally, the association has contributed 9 medals (1 Gold, 1 Silver, 7 Bronze) for North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) at the All India Inter University (AIU) Games since 2019.

The latest achievement once again highlights Meghalaya’s emergence as a strong force in Indian kickboxing, with young athletes consistently making their mark on national and international platforms.
