Indian Army Troops at Pokhar Swiftly Respond to Medical Emergency and Save Two Tourists

Spearhead Troops of Spearcorps attended to a medical emergency which occurred at Pokhar, Menchuka, today when two tourists, Ms Yati Yorung and Mr Papil Koje, lost consciousness after visiting Lamang. The Nursing Assistant (NA) at Pokhar immediately rendered first aid and initiated essential resuscitative measures. In view of the patients’ critical condition and limited response to initial treatment, Indian Army troops deployed in the area promptly assessed the situation and initiated urgent medical evacuation procedures.

Displaying exemplary alertness, professionalism and coordination, the troops organised a swift evacuation despite challenging terrain and time-sensitive conditions. Continuous medical care and close monitoring were ensured during the evacuation to the MI Room at Menchuka. The timely and well-coordinated response by the Indian Army proved decisive in stabilising both patients and averting a potentially life-threatening outcome.
Both patients are presently admitted at the MI Room, Menchuka, where they are under the active supervision of the Regimental Medical Officer. Their vital signs are stable and they are receiving appropriate medical management. They have been referred to the Community Health Centre, Mechuka for further investigations and follow-up treatment. The incident once again underscores the Indian Army’s steadfast commitment to humanitarian assistance and its role as a reliable first responder in remote and difficult terrain, reinforcing the strong military–civil bond and the ethos of service before self
