Huge turns out of youths: 800 plus candidates participates in the NIELIT Shillong Job Fair 2026; Major Recruiters Conduct On-Spot Interviews

January 20, 2026 — Youths and job seekers in huge turnout attended the NIELIT Job Fair 2026 at the Soso Tham Auditorium, where local talent met recruiters from over 18 prominent companies and organizations. Organized by the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Shillongin collaboration with the Office of the Divisional Employment Exchange, Shillong the event connected graduates, diploma holders, and early-career professionals from the East Khasi Hills and other districts with immediate employment opportunities and career guidance.

The one-day fair featured on-spot interviews, career counselling, and employer presentations. Participating companies included Eastern Panorama, Vision Plus Security Control Pvt. Ltd., Ascensive Educare, Frank Motors, Techsoul, Elementia Wellness Pvt Ltd, Tattva, StaffFlex Resolutions, The Employment Express, TUSTI Foundation Guwahati, GoRentify Net Prime Pvt Ltd, [24]7.ai, Webcom, InTown Solutions, Mindbit Solutions, Greta Solutions, Ignited Minds, Stairway Technology and Chillibreeze. Recruiters offered roles across IT& Hardware, security services, education, automotive, wellness, and staffing services, with many firms conducting multiple rounds of interviews and preliminary offers to participants.

“The turnout exceeded expectations and highlights the strong pool of skilled youth in the region,” said spokesperson of NIELIT Shillong. “Events like this bridge the gap between employers and job seekers, accelerate placements, and stimulate local employment growth. We are committed to continuing such collaborative efforts to ensure sustainable career pathways for our youth.”
Employers reported a steady pipeline of qualified candidates and praised the event’s organization and candidate preparedness. Several companies highlighted the region’s growing strength in IT and technical skills, while others noted interest in candidates for customer service, sales, and operations roles. Career counseling booths provided resume reviews and interview tips, and many attendees accessed career resources from the Divisional Employment Exchange, which helped match candidate profiles to recruiter needs during the fair.
The event which has become a regular annual activity of NIELIT Shillong also underscored the importance of local partnerships in tackling unemployment and upskilling initiatives. NIELIT Shillong plans to host follow-up workshops and targeted training sessions to help candidates meet specific employer requirements identified during the fair. During the event NIELIT Shillong provided students with counselling on various other trainings and skills development initiatives
