Shillong Municipal Corporation Board released rates and phone numbers for septic tank cleaning

Shillong, February 18, 2025: The Chief Executive Officer, Shillong Municipal Board has
informed all residents of Greater Shillong Planning Area that manual cleaning of septic tanks is
prohibited as per provision of the Employment of Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation
Act 2013. In this connection, the Shillong Municipal Board is providing Desludging Services of
all the septic tank within the Greater Shillong Planning Area as per the rate given below. Public
who wish to avail these services can call or send a WhatsApp message @8787842656.

Special Leave for Central Government employees of Meghalaya

Shillong, February 18, 2025: The Government of Meghalaya has declared that the Central
Government employees of Meghalaya who are electors under the Constituencies of the Khasi
Hills Autonomous District Council and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council shall be
granted Special Leave on the 21 st February, 2025 on account of the General Elections 2025 to the
two Autonomous District Councils of the State. This was informed by the Commissioner &
Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, General Administration Department.

General Holiday on 21 st February

Shillong, February 18, 2025: The Government of Meghalaya has declared the 21 st February,
2025 as a general holiday in the whole of East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, South West Khasi
Hills, Eastern West Khasi Hills, Ri Bhoi, East Jaintia Hills and West Jaintia Hills District on
account of the General Elections 2025 to the two Autonomous District Councils of the State, i.e.,
the Khasi Hills and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Councils. Employees working in the Garo

Hills who are electors under the Constituencies of the KHADC and JHADC shall be granted
Special Leave. Industrial undertaking or any of the establishment governed by the NI Act, 1881,
shops and those working on shift basis, daily wage, casual worker including those working
outside the Constituencies who are voters under the above Constituencies shall be entitled to the
benefit of a paid holiday as provided in Section 133(2)(b). This was informed by the
