On 15th January 2025, a civil Tata Sumo going from Guwahati to Silchar with four passengers onboard including the driver, Skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near Rattachera Police check post on NH6. Tragically, the driver and one female passenger lost their lives on the spot, while two other female passengers were critically injured.

Border Security Force (BSF) demonstrating its steadfast commitment to protecting India’s borders and responding effectively to crises. Troops from 172 Bn, BSF Meghalaya, were the first responders, showcasing remarkable coordination and resolve.

They conducted a challenging rescue operation, successfully evacuating survivors from the gorge. The injured individuals received immediate medical care at a nearby Primary Health Centre (PHC) before being transferred to Silchar Civil Hospital for advanced medical attention. This swift and efficient response underscores the BSF’s dedication to both national security and humanitarian assistance during emergencies.
